The Feuersnot at Teatro Massimo

The 2014 Opera and Ballet Season of Teatro Massimo inaugurates with the Feuersnot by Richard Strauss, directed by Palermitan Emma Dante. The opera, n stage from 18 to 26 gennaio, represents the opera "debut" of the famous theatre director in her city of birth, after the successes gathered at Teatro alla Scala with Carmen and at Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari and at the Opéra Comique in Paris with La Muette de Portici.

The denied light in the title, stolen by the magician Kundrad to his fellow citizens who mock him, represents music in Emma Dante's view, represented as a rain of music tabs that are burned. On stage, together with the huge number of characters contained in the opera, there are also thirty theatre actors, interpreting Kunrad's tribe, and highlighting the deep meaning that the director attached to gestures, body and acting, also in operas.
