From 25 to 31 May 2026 \u2014 just before June \u2014 the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa and the Cinema De Seta host the sixteenth edition of the Sicilia Queer Filmfest, one of the most compelling events on the international independent cinema circuit. Over 80 titles in the programme, a rigorous and courageous selection ranging from genre cinema to the avant-garde, with an international competitive section \u2014 Nuove Visioni \u2014 judged by an international jury led by filmmaker Ruth Beckermann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not a niche festival: it is a space for genuine cinematic research, one that has a track record of spotting talent and trends before they reach mainstream circuits. The 2026 edition, nicknamed Sweet Sixteen, opens with a title by Jane Schoenbrun fresh from Cannes and welcomes queercore filmmaker Bruce LaBruce, recipient of the Premio Nino Gennaro. Mostra “Tesori Impressionisti: Monet e la Normandia”<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Until 28 September 2026, the Sale Duca di Montalto at the Palazzo Reale host one of the most significant exhibitions Palermo has seen in recent years. “Tesori Impressionisti: Monet e la Normandia” \u2014 promoted by the Fondazione Federico II with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the French Embassy in Italy \u2014 brings together around one hundred works by 45 artists from the Collezione Peindre en Normandie, the MuMa in Le Havre and private collections. A collection never before exhibited in Sicily, and among the most representative of Impressionism in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monet is the guiding thread \u2014 in the centenary of his death \u2014 but the exhibition traces the entire movement: from Eug\u00e8ne Boudin to Renoir, from Courbet to Corot, through to Berthe Morisot, the sole female voice in the show. The choice of venue is not incidental: the deep historical bond between Sicily and Normandy, forged by the Norman conquests that shaped the identity of the island, makes the dialogue between these masterpieces and this place something far more than a simple exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Palazzo Reale is about 20-25 minutes on foot from Plaza Op\u00e9ra along the Cassaro, or a short taxi ride away. The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30 to 16.30, Sundays and public holidays from 8.30 to 12.30.
